Walk to EMMAUS

EMMAUS ANGLICAN CHURCH was conceived in January of 2010. Many of us had been in the Episcopal Church, and were called out  by the Holy Spirit to continue the work of the Great Commission: to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

Our first Sunday was February first, and what an exciting challenge it is to start from scratch. We have been blessed in countless ways, not the least of those being a generous landlord! What an encouragement it has been to see people stepping up and into expressions of ministry they never even considered before.

The congregation and its priest, Fr. Theron Walker were formally accepted into the Diocese of the Holy Spirit of the Anglican Church of North America on Good Friday.  We joyfully adhere to and are blessed to be stewards of the faith once delivered to the saints as received by the Anglican Church of North America.

As a community, we are eager to learn, grow, and be accountable for ourselves to God, living in grace and mercy, but without excuses. We love the ancient forms of worship handed on through the Book of Common Prayer.  We highly value learning in a world with many competing ideas of what is true.  We are eager to find new ways to reach people with the transforming love of Christ.

WHY EMMAUS?

The story of the disciples, Cleopas and a friend, told in the Twenty-fourth chapter of Luke is a resurrection and Easter Day story.  It is rich, deep, multifaceted story that needs to be experienced again and again.   It's a story, then, that will guide and shape us as we walk with Jesus on the road through life.

All to the Great Glory of God,

FR. THERON WALKER
